The Technological Crisis

There’s a lot of older volunteers where I work, and none of them like technology.  A lot of the notes and correspondance is in pen, which is fine, as long as you can read scripted handwriting.  Otherwise it looks like someone just took a pen and went bat shit crazy on paper.

We just got a new photocopier/printer/help you have a baby machine and it’s pretty swanky.  The trouble with a new photocopier and old people is that they will likely break it faster than you can say “INTERNET.”

Over here, it kind of looks like this:

Needless to say one of the volunteers didn’t like how the paper fed into the paper tray and thus decided to unscrew and REMOVE part of the paper feed tray to accomodate his needs.  Now all I can get to come up on the copy screen is “PAPER JAM!!! OH MY GOD THERE IS SUCH A PAPER JAM IN ME!!!! KILL ME!  I DON’T WANT TO LIVE AS A PHOTOCOPIER HERE!”

You’d be surprised that all that text neatly appears on the display screen.
