Wow, that beaver is really shakin it!

What is Canada Day? Is it an Independence Day or just a “screw it, let’s celebrate our country just for the hell of it!” day? Either way, sounds cool to me!

You Canadians are crazy. In the US, you don’t really go around telling people to shake their beavers, because it could be taken in a rather “different” way.

Katy, it’s a pretty boring reason:
On June 20, 1868, a proclamation signed by the Governor General, Lord Monck, called upon all Her Majesty’s loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st.

The July 1 holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day (and then blah blah the name changes).

    and Le Pug:
Most Calgarians hate being called a cowboy (or girl) because we’re world famous for the Calgary Stampede every year (ten days of dressing like a cowboy and drinking, then going on midway rides…look it up on the internet!). Most people think we dress like that all year, which is bull because this is such a business-centered city that it’s completely unlikely to see anyone outside with a cowboy hat on that actually lives here.
We also enjoy making fun of our rival city, Edmonton, and young drunk women enjoy lifting their shirts on the “red mile” during playoffs.
Hahaha, that makes Calgary sound insane!

Missmalice: It’s the day before I leave, but I have the whole day off, so I should be able to meet. I’m pretty sure Amanda has the day off too, so I think we’re good to go! If you want to email me I can give you my phone number so that you can call.
