It’s Getting Closer!

Oh, hello Friday! You are a special day for me, because today my boss officially knows I am out of here! I did a little dance of joy at my desk when I looked and saw a reply email from her to my “I quit!” email.

Now I am sitting at my desk listening to The New Pornographers just thinking about how it’s all finally happening, the wheels are in motion and there’s no turning back. The landlords all have notice, the new lease is signed, we have some new furniture, and I’ve got a hotel booked for the night that I will spend in Vancouver before getting the keys to the new apartment!

It’s terrifying and really exciting all at the same time.

I think this move is just what the doctor ordered though. New city, new people, new job, new apartment! I also found a doggie day spa that’s two blocks away from the new place, and it has DOGGIE TREADMILLS. Needless to say we’ll be trying that out when the rain gets really bad. I was also thinking of hiring a dog walker if things get really busy because the dogs tend to get a little destructive (for example, Winston finally finished off ruining my CHANEL glasses two days ago) when they don’t get a good walk in.

I can’t wait to take the pugs to the beach though! I am curious as to whether they’ll like the ocean or not. Zelda seems to like water, but Winston kind of stands in it like it’s yucky. Except when I have a bath…then for some reason they want to LEAP into the tub with me.

They will also get to go to their first Doggie Restaurant! Woo! Let’s hope Zelda doesn’t try and rip Winston’s face off for trying to steal her food in public like she does at home!

I’m sad to leave my family, especially my sister and niece, but it’s something that I think will be really good for me and Steve. Plus, someday when I have babies I will be able to tell them the story of the big move, and how mommy and daddy picked up all our stuff and made the leap of faith to move somewhere they knew they’d be happy.

Tell Winston and Zelda that Doggy restaurants TOTALLY ROCK!!! My parents also think that that Day Spa sounds awesome and they wish you luck on the move. By the way, I used to hate the ocean, but it grew on me and I am sure the same thing will happen with your Winston, despite his common status.

What did your boss write in her reply to your “I quit” email?

    She wrote this:

    “Hi Lauren

Sorry I was tied up today and that I missed being able to speak to you about your decision. I respect your decision and yet I would like to have the opportunity to connect to discuss it …would you be open to meeting on Monday to review.”

Pretty straightforward. Now I will wait and see if she goes nuts on Monday!

Woo-hoo! Hell yeah! Time to move! I’m so excited for you guys. I’ll be even more excited when WE finally move cuz then we’ll be on the same coast! 🙂

I am so wanting to take Suki (and the family, I guess…lol!) up to Vancouver for a week and see you guys! How cool would that be? I wonder if Zelda and Suki would get along – female dogs seem to hate her.

Congrats again! I know it’s a stressful time, but it’s a fun kind of stress 🙂

Oh man Zelda loves EVERYONE! I’m sure they’ll get along, because they are all awesome dogs!

Also, you totally SHOULD come! Pug party!

So what did the boss say? Did you ruin her nice long weekend??

I know this feeling. It rules to be reminded you are still alive and capable of taking on new challenges instead of carving out a rut
