Dinnertime Talk

I found this on a fellow bloggers site as a way to start conversation with others at a (Thanksgiving) dinner to better know the people you are dining with. They were pretty interesting (this is the list she posted, with my own answers, of course).

Who was your favorite celebrity as a child? Johnny Depp! CRAZY DELICIOUS. I also enjoy the “talents” of Jake Gyllenhaal.

What type of pets do you have? Two delightful pugs, Winston and Zelda

What is your favorite color? Purple, Green, Pink, Black

What is most memorable about your high school years? I had some good friends. Well, eventually half of them decided that they despised the other half and so on. That sucked. I still talk to my friend AJ, who I dated in high school and is now gay. That’s always a good story to tell! AJ is a good dude. I also had a best friend who was nutty and I stopped being friends with in high school. She tried to kill herself after high school, which sucks. There were tons of good times in high school. Good pals. Everyone I knew in high school who was a good friend has moved away though, so that sucks. As a matter of fact, all of my close friends are moving away! Poor me! Steve R is moving to Australia, Dusan is moving to Prague to teach English, and Mike lives in Vancouver! WTF?! Who wants to be my friend?!?!?!

What word describes you best? Pirate-mouth (okay, two words, shuv it!)

What is your greatest accomplishment? Getting on the President’s Honor Roll in College after sucking at everything in High School!

What drives you every day? My car! Beep beep! I think my sister and neice, my lovely steve, and my puppies help me get up and get going. I also have a personal drive to become something better than my parents I guess because I don’t want to end up spending every day on the couch (okay, I do spend time there since finishing school, but I’m saving to travel!).

What is your favorite food? Burritos. Holy. Shit. This is a recent favorite. There’s nothing better than getting home from work and slathering a burrito in sour cream. O. M. G!

Where do you want to retire? Somewhere that I can have lots of puppies and kitties and maybe a little fog named Leonard Cohen.

What is your business goal this year? I work at a nonprofit…

Where do you like to vacation? JAPAN! NEXT YEAR BABY! HOLY CRAP!

Who do you admire? My sister!

What is the kindest thing anyone has done for you? After my car was totaled 2 summers ago (holy driving 50k and having my hood flip up and smash my winshield on Crowchild!) I was living in Banff and didn’t have a way to get back to Calgary on a long-weekend. My sister paid to get me a rental car, which ended up being a blue PT Cruiser that was the coolest car. Oh man. So good. That was really crazy amazing of her to do that. Thanks again for that Tanya! That was awesome.

How do you want to be remembered? As asomeone who did something good for society

What would you do with a million dollars? Straight out of the gate I’d pay someone to teach me Japanese so that I could go to Japan for a few months. Then I’d come back and buy some land and start building a house. Then I’d get more puppies! I’d pay off my sister’s house and get a fund ready to pay for my niece’s post-secondary tuition. I’d probably invest a lot of the money so that I could keep living off of it. I’d start my own little crafty-artsy business and spend my days making art and playing with my dogs. Actually, it’d be fun to volunteer with the dogs to visit kids and seniors and stuff too. I would also start annually donating to charity.

If you were on an island, who would you want to be with? Why? Steve and my dogs. They do enough crazy stuff to keep me entertained. Also, can I please bring Survivor Man to help me stay alive?!

You have a 10 minute speech to give at a high school, what is it about? You think you know all there is to know right now, but you don’t. Your life will change dramatically from high school onward. Always remember to take some chances and step outside of your comfort zone once and a while!

Did you play? Leave me a comment to let me know!
