A Delicious Catch-up

Finally I am one assignment away from completing the academic portion of my degree! Just 8 months of working and I’m finished. I’ve been so busy doing enormous projects for the past two weeks I haven’t had the time to think about the fact that this is pretty much the end of my schooling!
Yesterday was the first time Steve R and I thought about this. We actually had to go through a series of “lasts.” I gave up my last locker, ate my last meal at school, said goodbye to some people I may honestly never see again, but who have influenced me immensely over the past three years. I made some friends that I am grateful for (Okami and Steve), but I also had to say goodbye to some people that I really enjoyed the company of, but whom I likely won’t see for a long time (Eric, Jade, Rae). Yesterday was the first time I was sad about leaving. I thiink we all want so badly for our semesters to be over so that we can have free time, but the truth is that this time I don’t get to go back and see how everyone’s summer was. I don’t get to spend my weekdays with this amazing group of people who I’ve shared a lot of laughter and tough times with. How bizarre that most of these people are going their seperate ways now!
Enough sadness though, for I am done college as soon as I finish a two-page project today! I can’t believe it! I am the first person to graduate a post-secondary institution! I entered college as an art school kid who got put on the waiting list and was forced into MRC by her mother. Now here I sit as an honors student finishing school! A lot can change in a few years. I went from dating Mike to living with Steve V.
I’d also like to note that my student ID hosts a very lame picture of me where I look like Annie…

I pulled my first all-nighter on Tuesday because frankly even the smart kids can’t go through college without at least doing this ONCE! I was up until 5am writing a paper on leadership styles. I got through this only by having Steve R close at hand on messenger and listening to lame but amazing music. Madonna, ABBA, and the Bee Gees kept me awake and writing.

Barry Gibb saved my life. Haha! I’ve also decided to go as him for Halloween tentatively this year since I do an amazing Barry Gibb impression…

Oh, and to catch you up on other happenings…

In my quest to find a cat in the city, I ended up at almost every Petland in the city! I searched and searched, but no kitty was to be mine. I went to a Petland with Steve R where we saw a teeny little Pommeranian puppy that I thought to play with. After 5 seconds the dog bit my thumb where I have scars and proceeded to try and drag me into the glass case he was in! Steve naturally did nothing but laugh at the fact that a tiny toy of a dog was beating me up. Seriously, it sucked!

Oh, and the story of my kitty!

I tried going to the SPCA after being attacked by that little bitch of a dog, but the SPCA had moved to a remote part of the city where I only somewhat knew where I was going. I tried unsuccessfully to find it. the next day I was absolutely determined to find it, so I left school and drove deep into the depths of the industrial wasteland of the city. I found the SPCA only because I saw a van with the logo turn into the parking lot. WTF?!
Anyhow, I got to the kitties after a few moments and began my browsing. I had decided I needed a black cat. I think they are absolutely gorgeous cats, and I wanted to get one that looked nothing like any other cat I’ve had. It also had to be female because the last boy cat I had sprayed ALL OVER EVERYTHING I owned.
Let the search begin!
It’s actually not difficult to find black cats at the SPCA. People seem to really dislike these animals. Apparently it’s because the world population is still living in 1870 and believes that black cats are unlucky. In reality, black cats are one of the most affectionate cats you can have. Seriously, this folklore is LAMESAUCE.
I found two kitties I liked after wanting desperately save all the cats. I found an employee and she took me to get information on both cats. It turns out that one was “on hold.” That’s right. You can put a cat on hold at the SPCA. I decided it was smarter to see the cat that wasn’t on hold, so the girl brought me back a little one year old cat with a shaved tummy. She was found on March 29th as a pregnant stray. To be able to save her and spay her, they had to give this kitty an abortion, which is why her tummy was shaved. TERRIBLE!
To be able to adopt a cat, you have to spend at least 20 minutes alone with them while the pet specialitst observe your interaction. Cool by me! They brought this little eight-pound kitty in and sat her on my lap, where she didn’t move from for a good 15 minutes. She purred and rubbed against me, and just sat in happiness. Every time the pet specialist tried to come into our room, the kitty growled at her (never attacking, just not wanting to be interruped!).
She jumped off my lap when the girl entered the room again, but all it took was a little call to get her back into my lap. ADORABLE!
She won me over my licking my hand. I had to have her!
As I tried to fill out the adoption papers, my new kitty rolled all over them in delight.

She was so beautiful I had to name her Bella. Bella Sushi Meow Meow!

She wanted out of her carrying box so badly on the way home she tried to eat through the box! This was one excited cat!

I’ve had her for a week now and she is the best thing to happen to cats since…mice!

She sleeps with me every night, she knows how to use the litter box, she plays, she follows me everywhere, she never tries to run outside, she likes kids, and loves a good catnip.

Who could ask for anything better?!

That’s been my past week. Life is pretty good! There are some big changes coming, and some big changes overcome, and they’ve all been great.

Oh yeah, and my cat has a myspace page!

Check her out!

I can’t believe I get to post first!

I’m actually extremely grateful that I got to know you and the Steves this semester. You are truly amazing, and I would have never forgiven myself had I not discovered that. So my thanks to you as well…

And as soon as I have decent sleep, I will likely feel much the same way you do about leaving school, but it just hasn’t set in for me yet.

And I love the Bella story, so nice to know that she loves you just as much as you love her.

Now I must dash off to complete the last of my assignments as well, as soon as my brain feels like joining me.

…knows how to use the litter box, never tries to run outside, likes kids, and loves a good catnip

Sadly, that pretty much describes me as well.

Congrats on the degree and the cat! Sounds like your life rocks!
